Hello World…
How many people bloggers know where that comes from, I wonder???
Personally, I found it very amusing when I realized that most blogging programs generate a ‘Hello World’ post to get you started. It’s not that it’s origins are particularly mysterious (they aren’t) however, bloggers as a group didn’t seem like those to be ‘in the know’ on this particular subject. So, I asked a blogger friend if she knew where the term came from. She said: ” I feel like I should, but can’t remember… a movie, maybe?”
A good guess, but not so much.
“Hello World”, or as I learned it “Hello, World” is what one usually writes as a first program when learning a new programming language. In my case it was initially BASIC and later C++. There’s an interesting and brief rundown on the subject, along with examples of the program written in various languages at The Hello World Collection for anyone curious.
Love you too bitch.
your link is wrong, it’s got an extra bit on the end that causes an error, should be http://www.roesler-ac.de/wolfram/hello.htm
